1966 Holden HD Panelvan: Maketh or Breaketh

Today on Car Rave, a subtly different looking 1966 Holden HD Panelvan for sale.

I do love a car build that shakes things up a bit, especially if it’s as simple as wheel choice. This HD Pano is the perfect example of that sentiment.

Sitting on a set of Superlites, a very track focused wheel, it is sure to divide opinion. Most would opt for a set of steelies (with our without caps), but the owner of this bedroom on wheels has thought outside the box slightly. Not a hugely odd wheel to find its way onto a classic Holden, but rarely seen on a Panelvan. Personally, I love it. Especially considering those are 15×10’s tucked under the rear. Fuck the purists, I say!

Whilst the HD was always considered the ugly duckling to its more beautiful HR Sibling, I have kind of always liked the underdog aspect and though it added coolness. Plus the HD-HR Panelvans are some of the best lookers from the back catalogue of sin-bins, so whether it’s this or that don’t matter.

Throw in the fact it’s had a full resto, fitted with the bigger 202ci six, is windowless and painted in what looks to be Corinth Blue (one of my favourite Holden colours), and you’ve got yourself a stunning van.
