1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda: All American Racing

One of the coolest American homologation specials to ever do it.

This beautifully restored 1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda has recently been listed on Car Sales, and it is one of the most revered Homolgation specials to ever come out of the States.

Background

Do you know what an AAR Plymouth Cuda is?

It’s a god-level “All American Racing” homologation special. A wildly packaged car, built purely so Plymouth could go Trans Am racing. Your modern day cars may be faster, they may be sharper, but they’ll never be tougher than this weapon. I spotted this particular example for sale on Sunday at @highballcarsandcoffee , and it is a beauty.

These rare (only 2724 built) beauties featured:

  • A 340ci V-8 Six Pack (3 Carbs) producing 290hp (although rumours state it was closer to 325hp)
  • Choice of Auto or Manual
  • 8.75-inch Sure-Grip axle
  • Wild “Strobe” decals
  • Side exit exhaust
  • Raised and heavy duty rear springs
  • Fiberglass bonnet
  • Hood Pins

1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda: In the owners own words

1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda Genuine matching number car.

This is one of 68 Alpine White AAR Cuba’s built. With a total production of only 2724 and 1614 in automatic, making this vehicle very rare. Dealers could not order these cars due to the low production numbers. This AAR is was factory built with rare split bench w/- centre armrest seat and column auto, but apparently the first purchaser requested dealer fitted buckets seats with slap stick floor shift auto with console. This car is in excellent condition restored some 14 years ago and is a thill to drive.

This Cuda has the pony class pedigree in it and a real future investment with nothing to spend just get in and cruise. Sadly reducing my car collection and need to scale down. All inquiries welcome.

The Cuda is currently on Club Heritage registration which is non-transferable and will be sold with a full roadworthy certificate at the listed price.
