1986 Porsche 911 Carrera: ST Recreation

Is this the coolest Porsche for sale right now?

God damn. Look at what we have here. A stunning tribute to one of Stuttgart’s most revered factory hot-rods- the Porsche 911 ST.

For those that aren’t familiar, the ST was a homologation special built by Porsche in 1970. They had thinner gauge lightweight roof sections and body panels, pumped rear guards with fatter tread and a stroked flat six (2.3l) with triple Weber’s. It’s believed that only three dozen ST’s were produced, many seeing serious track time throughout the 70’s.

Rare, raw and visceral (grown up word), the ST deservedly has a god like status amongst the air-cooled army and car enthusiasts alike. The subtle yet perfect aesthetics inspiring Porsche owners around the world to create tributes, such as this one. If you’re thinking “Singer“, you wouldn’t be wrong. The ST no doubt provided some inspiration to the now famous Porsche/Supercar builder – with their fat pumped guards and deep-dish Fuchs all obvious links to the 1970 hot rod (and ofcourse the more famous RS).

But, unless you’re an Oil Sheik or have ‘Lord’ in your title, a real ST (or Singer for that matter) is probably going to be out of reach. Infact, if your finances are anything like mine, all 911’s are now out of reach. If however, you fall somewhere between filthy rich and “where the f*** does all my money go?”, then perhaps you could swing for this stunning recreation.

Finished in stunning Grigio Telesto (that will go down well during pub brags) and touting a 300hp 3.6L flat six (a few more horses and cubes than an original ST), it’s certainly not the truest recreation. But who cares? It’s undeniably one of the coolest and unique Porsches for sale in Australia right now.

You can find it on Carsales for 195k. So strap on your big girl/boy pants, re-mortgage your house, sell a kidney- do whatever you have to do to buy this machine.
