1987 BMW M3 E30 Manual: Third time lucky

I burnt through two other M3's before finding this one.

Look at this stunning 1987 BMW M3 E30 Manual currently for sale.

This morning, as I completed my ritual of flicking through cars on the toilet (please, as if you don’t), I swiped past a rather sinister looking E30 in all Black. It caught my eye, so I scrolled back (I flick fast) and low and behold, what looked liked an E30 M3. Amazing! Cool car, but the photos were shit- so I starred it and moved on.

As I continued to flick through the feed, I spot another wide body E30. Yup, it’s another M3. This car had great photos, a cool story, and finished in the absolute best E30 colour combo – Diamantschwarz Metallic with the red stripe.

“Done” I thought. I had found the car I would be writing about today. I quickly shared it with the brains trust (my brother and mate), saved the pics, and went about my daily duty.

So as I sit down to my desk tonight, and start blabbering on about how I “found this M3, and it was cool and stuff” to you- my presumably non existent/small audience (Hi mum!)- I decide to actually do a bit of research, and see what other E30 M3’s are for sale in Australia.

Well fuck me (sorry Mum).

What you see before you is not the car I was planning on writing about. Infact, it was a car I literally found 10 seconds into writing this post. As I soon as I saw it, I threw that other E30 ad on the ground like a bag of shit. That car was nice, but this, this was insane.

Both cars were same colour combo, similar kilometres, similar price- but his one just grabbed me. I think it was a combination of the well orchestrated photos, the fact it was still left hook , retained the original 15″ BBS’s and had an original interior that looked like no one had ever sat in it. Whereas, the other example had been converted to right hook, had larger wheels and re-trimmed buckets- not entirely original.

Obviously, both were great cars. But I guess I am just a sucker for a nice original example.

And a good photo.

You can find this amazing example on Carsales here for $85k.

If you don’t know a lot about the M3, the BMW M-Division actually have a great page in which they document the history of the car here (there was an M3 ute btw).

1987 BMW M3 E30 Manual: In the owners own words:

This is your chance to own a piece of BMW history with this 1987 E30 M3. This is truly a collector’s item or for the enthusiast. With a Japanese history this M3 was imported into Australia along with a 2002 Turbo in 2008 and kept garaged in a private personal collection until acquired in 2015. Fortunately this E30 M3 has been kept in it’s manufactured left hand drive build as modifying to right hand drive can be very risky and can lose value to the vehicle. No other E30 M3’s were built right hand drive except for the infamous Holy Grail which is a 1 of 1. You can be the first person in Australia to register this E30 and legally drive Left Hand Drive. This car has the following features: A rare combination of Diamond Schwartz paint and Tartan Cloth interior with original 146,000kms. Working Power Windows and Sunroof Original 15″ BBS Wheels All electrics working A full tool kit in the boot Solid Clutch and 5 speed gearbox Original radio and cassette tape player A strong 2.3lt S14 4cyl engine Everything has been kept as close to original as possible with serviceable items changed. The paint work does have a few blemishes and it does seem to have had a respray somewhere in it’s life. This M3 has always been well maintained and looked after and always garaged in a collection with a drive once a week to keep everything lubricated. Genuine buyers only inquire. No test drives without sizeable deposit.
