Wagon Week: 1962 Ford XL Squire Wagon

A tidy little bite of Australiana

Here is a sweet as pie 1962 Ford XL Squire Wagon that recently popped up on Facebook Marketplace.

The Squire was the top of the line wagon model that Ford Australia offered throughout the XL, XM and XP years. They were pretty limited in numbers, which is why I get excited when I nice example pops up. There a little bite of 60’s Aussie charm, albeit a copy of the yank Country Squires.

This example has had its Merino White paint resprayed several years ago, but the rest looks nice and original. The owner claims a couple of grand has been dropped on the front end, so it’s driving like new. It’s looks free from rust, which can often plague these early Falcons.

If you’re interested, find it here on Facebook Marketplace here.

1962 Ford XL Squire Wagon: In the owners own words

Hi all
I am reluctantly putting my Merino White XL Squire Wagon with red trim up for sale. Not currently adversed anywhere else apart from
Facebook although I will advertise later this week. The car is fantastic to drive and starts first time every time, and I would have no reservation setting on on any journey Aus Wide. The car Has has exterior paint several years ago and does show some signs of age but still presents really well. Engine bay, door jams and interior are all original and still in fantastic condition. Car has recently had several thousands spent on front end (Receipts provided) And you can tell when you drive it.
Any inspection welcome in Reservoir Vic. Please PM for more pictures or details
